• Who is Mike Bishop?
  • Born and raised in Portland, OR, Mike Bishop grew up, providing music in the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) church and school systems. In the early 1970's, he sang with the Portland Boys' Choir, under Jose Correa's direction and played trumpet with Bud Rice and the Trumpeteers, which, on reflection, was a powerful influence, reverberating even now in his life. Mike took voice lessons from Jon Gilbertson (now living on the East Coast) while attending Portland Adventist Academy (PAA). At the same time he did choral and solo singing at numerous Portland-area churches, all in the early to mid-70's. After graduating from PAA, Mike attended and graduated with a BA in English from Walla Walla College (WWC). However, he spent a significant amount of time in the WWC music department building during his four-year tenure there. He took voice lessons, and also sang with the groups, Schola Cantorum, and The Concert Choir, both under the direction of Dr. Harold Lickey (now retired in Portland).
  • His first CD, released in December 2002, is entitled "Rise Again." Although it possesses a "custom" label, this musical CD was produced, mastered, and engineered at a major recording studio site in a suburb of Nashville, TN. Many major contemporary Christian musical artists of note have been associated with this company, and their finished products bear, or at one point bore, this company’s well-known label.
